there's something about today

I think the reason why we have a hard time letting go

is because we tend to only remember the good things. When we reminsce about our relationship with someone, or our experiences at a dream job, or our childhood, the bad memories don’t usually surface—that’s why it’s called reminiscing. And then we spend hours, days, weeks, months, years trying to figure out a way to move on and forget about these memories that haunt our daily lives with wishful thoughts. Sometimes I feel that we block out the bad side of our memories because we feel that it would not be doing the good things justice. But if we truly, whole-heartedly want to forget, we should look at the whole picture. Not just the good things, but also the bad things. The things that make us cringe. If we look at the facts, these things tend to be less amazing than we remembered them to be. It makes them easier to forget. That’s life.
